Owner of burnt Nano accepts compensation
Even as news of yet another brand new Tata Nano catching fire in Gujarat’s Boriyavi village came through on Wednesday, Satish Sawant, the Mulund-based owner of the burnt Tata Nano has accepted compensation from Concorde Motors, a fully owned subsidiary of Tata Motors.
As per reports, in the latest incident, the fire began in the Nano’s rear portion, just the way it happened with Sawant’s Nano.
“Yes, I got to know of the Gujarat incident after watching the news on TV. I have accepted the compensation cheque to pay off my loan. I don’t see any point in waiting. For the time being, I have decided to close the matter. I have to concentrate on my job,” Sawant said.
Tata Motors’ officials have not been very forthcoming on the reasons behind the latest incident where the Nano caught fire while it was being driven to a dealer in Ahmedabad.
“We are still investigating the cause of the problem,” said Tata Motors’ Managing Director Prakesh Telang. Company spokesperson Debashis Ray added “The Nano has successfully passed the most stringent national and international safety and durability certifications” line.”
The date of manufacture of the Nano in the Gujarat incident could not be ascertained. In Sawant’s case, Tata Motors’ spokesperson Debashis Ray said it was manufactured in 2008. Later, this was contradicted by a Tata Motors’ official who told Sawant that, “It was a demo car. It was a pre-production car, which Concorde is not supposed to sell to any customer”.
“I have been waiting, but there has been no communication whatsoever from Tata Motors, about the reasons behind the fire. They seem to be hardly bothered,” Sawant said.
Meanwhile, auto analysts too are not too happy with the company’s stoic silence. “Silence is not always golden. If Tata Motors continues with this policy while its cars keep burning, customers may not turn up at the second round of bookings,” said an auto analyst with a leading brokerage house.

Dear Sir,
Tata is a company we Indians are proud of.Nano journey was sadly a lot miserable.
But still you can make an impact in the Indian and other growing markets.
It would be nice if Nano is made on the platform of Indica .
It will be a lot easy and it will be a big boost to Tata sale.
People are ready to pay big amount and till date no other model be it from Nissan ,volkswagen or any other is really anywhere near the mind blowing looks of Nano.
You can launch trial models( limited edition) of this kind in the price bracket of 3.5 to 4 lacs with top class features .
We wish luck to Tata motors.

i am the proud owner of nano cx. i had an extensive enquiry ,thru books internet etc before buying my nano because i am 6 ft tall,my sons both are 6’3″ ,90kgs of weight each, wife is normal. This size of famiy could never enter inside maruthi 800, i have test driven maruthi 800,alto,beat,spark,Astar,estillo,wagon R (ofcourse the last two could have been choosen by me but the prize tag of rs 4.25 lacs made me to stay away).my invest ment on my car is only 1.80 lacs. extra fittings of carsterio, speakers, sunfilm, seat covers have come around nine thousand only. my insurance comes rs 4300 per annum,
other cars you will have to pay rs 8000 and above.servicing once in 10000 kms cost only oil change and other normal expenses could come around rs 2000etc only as assured by the dealer, plus 4 years warranty, road side assistance(even u have run out of fuel they come and refill with cost, tyre changing when it gets puntured r the few things it has appealed me a lot) as i am a clerk in indian bank it has perfectly fitted to my pocket, even though it is unfortunate of the fire incidents and the wrong expectations of people that it is worth for one lac only, because the initial promise of offering the car for one lac by tata is still looming large in the peoples mind i am perfectly happy and even it gets fired up i am not worried because the mammoth tata is behind me.
Dear Indians,
This is a proud of Asain product.Problem may occur even Japanes cars also. Toyota moters recall their products
due to the technical error, they are the no.1 in vehicle
market but still they also facing this type of problem.
Sri Lanka, we wellcome TATA NANO if The TATA company
launch it I think company will overcome this situation.
