Another Nano up in flames, this time in Chennai

The Nano continues to burn bright and this time, its a Nano car that is reported to have caught fire in the Southern Indian city of Chennai. This marks the 10th incident of the ultra cheap car getting engulfed in flames with this being just days of two more such incidents, one each in Anand and Sri Lanka. Tata Motors is yet to come up with an official statement explaining the recent spate of Nano cars getting burnt.
Also, the recent incident of three Nano cars getting burnt in quick succession came after a long lull when there were 7 other Nano cars that got burnt during the initial stages. Tata Motors had then conducted a thorough investigations and had declared the car to be completely safe. In the meantime, Tata Motors have been able to push through more than a lakh units of the Nano in the market though unfortunately, the recent fires came at a time when everyone perhaps thought the car is safe after all.
It now remains to be seen how Tata Motors take to the situation where its Nano cars have once again become prone to fire accidents. The world’s cheapest car is also turning out to be highly inflammable and this is one distinction that the Nano could surely have done without.
