Mumbai police may use Tata Nano for patrolling duty

Tata Motors may finally receive a much needed booster dose in their Nano sales if the decision by Mumbai police to use the Nano as a patrolling car is finalised. Given the crowded and constricted space on the roads in Mumbai a small car such as the Nano would be most apt for use by the police force for their official purpose. Towards this, one Nano has already been taken up by the police force for test and is in service as of now. A large order would follow though in case they find the vehicle suitable.
Right now the traffic police department or constabulary uses motorcycle to patrol the roads and given their tedious as well as long working hours the drive around does make things a bit too demanding on the individuals. The Nano being small in size as well as being of low cost is being considered as a best alternative to the motorcycle. The car would also be able to provide the policing person protection from the vagaries of nature and climate.
Given the low sales and the bad name that Tata is getting with its Nano dream, this acceptance of the car by a law enforcement arm of the country would surely work as a booster advertisement for the company and its car. If this car does get accepted by the Mumbai police there are bright chances that other government arms of the country would soon take to this car.
The word of the vehicle being accepted by the Mumbai police is now gaining ground.
