Tata Motors aiming to stimulate Nano sales
Tata Motors is planning to increase its sales by selling 10,000 units of its small wonder — the Tata Nano a month. This would mean a leap of around 233 percent that the largest car producing company in India is aiming for. It’s been two years since the introduction of the Tata Nano car in the Indian market and was believed its initial price tag of $2000 would make it a runaway success right from the word go.
According to Prakash M Telang the Managing Director of Tata Motors for India, “as the festive season is on, we are feeling even more confident as generally every year the car sales increase during this very season. We are quite sure that the sales of nano would touch 10,000 at the very end of 2012.” Plans are already afoot to establish a clutch of new dealers in various parts in India.
Additionally, the spokesperson of the company has also boasted that it is sure about its Nano sales as the company’s marketing and sales initiatives provide the company with great support and aids.
Most probably by early 2012, Tata Motors would release the diesel version of the already existing Tata Nano. This apart, a revised version has already gone on sale. Tata has always come up with new and fresh policies to catalyze its sales. This latest version has a more pleasing interior along with a few cosmetic changes on the exterior. The company has also revealed that it would also release an anniversary model of the car most probably by next year which would have aluminum alloy wheels. It will most probably be a limited edition model.
The company’s initial plan were to sell 25,000 cars a month though in reality, it has sold only 1202 units in August, 2936 units in September and a marginally better 3,868 units in October.
