Tata Motors: Nano production at less than half of installed capacity
A senior executive of Tata Motors has revealed that the company hardly manages to utilize half of the annual capacity of its plant at Sanand. The plant in the Gujarat state in India has an installed capacity of producing 2.5 lac units of the Nano annually. R Ramakrishnan the commercial (VP) who is also the passenger car business head of the company told that they are merely able to produce 10,000 of the Nano cars a month inspite of it being the cheapest car in the market right now.
While he was present to launch the latest version of its popular SUV — the Sumo, Ramakrishnan boasted to the reporters that the sales of the little wonder has been increasing every month. He also announced they would now be targeting the two wheeler owners to further catalyze sales of the small car.
He also revealed that Tata Motors is in the process of introducing more models that are fuel efficient with the motive of reversing the decline in sales that the company is facing owing to rising fuel costs.
