Tata Nano Also Likely to Join Goa Police Force
Given the crowded streets of Mumbai which never sleeps, it is indeed a herculean task for the police force there to maintain vigil. Most times the police have had to resort to doing their beats on foot as the patrol cars that they have were unable to maneuver in these congested streets. The Nano from Tata therefore has come as a welcome and effective respite for the Mumbai police force. A fleet of Nano cars have been taken on by the Mumbai police as a pilot project. With its high fuel efficiency running the car also would turn out to be economical for the police force. In addition the small size makes it apt for running in narrow streets while providing all weather protection to its occupants.
Closely following this pilot project of the Nano for the Mumbai police force, the next target is the Goan police force. However, unlike Mumbai, the cities and towns in Goa are not so crowded though the back alleys that make up most of Goa are yet narrow and quite inaccessible by large sized transports. In fact, there has already been some Nano cars with a different color scheme and the Goa police emblem on them that has been delivered to the police force there. There could possibly have been some internal modifications too that have been carried out. Details of these however remain unknown.
The barest minimum modification that would surely be there is the provision for the walkie talkie to be placed. There would also be a siren / flasher light to be installed on the car. Given all the merits of the Nano so far as maneuverability in closed or constricted space goes, the negative aspect would be its speed. Criminals are bound to make a fast getaway. Would the Nano be able to catch up with these miscreants is to be seen.
