Tata Nano rival from Bajaj set to debut on 3rd January 2012
The Indian car market is going to get its new participant by way of a new entrant from Bajaj. The maker of two and three wheeler in India is also coming up with a small sized car which they had started as a joint project with Nissan and Renault. This one was supposed to be ultra low cost and therefore give stiff competition to the Nano.
The Ultra Low Cost car from Bajaj had been in the running along with the Nano from Tata. It had even made a show albeit in a prototype form at the Auto Expo show held in 2008 when the Nano beat it with a production model being staged. Thereafter the Bajaj ULC project went into some sort of a tizzy with legal disputes cropping up with even the possibility of the project being axed coming to the fore.
Renault and Nissan were supposed to take on the marketing aspects of the car to be developed by Bajaj. With the three principle players not in total agreement there is a chance that Bajaj may have to go ahead with the production and marketing on their own. There is good possibility of the car finding a demand amongst the Indian consumer market for carrying passengers as well as load. Once again Bajaj have set the date of 3rd January 2012 for unveiling this car and it is a game of wait and watch that we will have to be engaged in on what happens then.
