Tata Nano Will Reach Bangladesh Soon
Launch of the Nano on Bangladesh soil has been advanced to next month. Due to some export price issue, the car was getting delayed in it’s across the river voyage. The retailer of the car Nitol-Niloy Group has now been able to settle the issue and the car is making its voyage next month.
The first consignment would be of 2,000 units of the car. Abdul Matlub Ahmed, the chairman of Nitol-Niloy is confident of the demand for the car rising soon. More units would be imported then as per the demand curve.
The car would cost Rs. 3.2 lakhs or $ 6,000 in Bangladesh. In Bangladeshi currency that converts to 500,000 Takas.
Presently the cars that are found plying the streets in Bangladesh are the used Japanese ones. These cars come costly but as far as the people using them are concerned, the cars are reliable. Except for Ambassador, there is no other Indian make car in Bangladesh as of now. The Ambassador is used as a taxi in Bangladesh. The Nano would therefore be the first of the Indian car to make its presence in serious form in Bangladesh.
Depending on the demand for the Nano, Nitol-Niloy Group have plans to start an assembling factory in Bangladesh itself. Then they would import the individual units and assemble the car in their soil itself. This however would only happen if the sales touch 100k units per year.
